october days

Reveling in what remains of the slanting daylight this month in the studio and focusing in on the nurturing rituals that will hold us steady through the colder days ahead, like our blossom facial steam, shown above.

Favorite scents of the season include our spicy & sweet rose, cardamom & sandalwood botanical perfume (in the balm format, freshly poured into one of our vintage treasures, above), as well as the rich & smoky jasmine sweetness of our perfume no. 1.

Delighted to release a new edition of our nourishing facial balm this month! This subtle shift simply layers in more botanical goodness by adding oil infusions of Northeast-grown organic calendula flowers, sustainable frankincense from Somaliland, and propolis from a local beekeeper. This added richness means that a little will go an even longer way. Can’t wait for you to try it!

I’ve also been steeping up a lot of lemon verbena tisane, for a bit of extra sunshine as the days grow shorter. Our most recent batch is from a small family farm in Morocco. It’s just so bright and beautiful. I highly recommend adding it to your rotation for the chilly days ahead…

In the garden this month, the asters are at their zenith and various seedheads begin to ripen in our native plant beds. I’ll be trying something new this season, sowing native plant seeds outdoors in pots. Many of these plants need a cold period in order to germinate, so this method is a good way to ensure they stay in their natural rhythm while also protecting them from hungry creatures and other disruptions. Learn more about how to do this via the Wild Seed Project.
